Emergency Assessment Centre, Wexham Park Hospital - submitted by Kier Construction
This project involved the construction of a new, four storey, emergency department and assessment wards at Wexham Park Hospital. The layout provides comprehensive patient care in a single building to avoid moving patients long distances across the site, which is how the hospital currently operates. The Emergency Assessment Centre (EAC) also provides single rooms for patients which upgrade existing facilities and contribute to the hospital’s current undersupply of single rooms.
This logistically challenging scheme was delivered four weeks early, under budget, with client satisfaction of 9/10 and end-users 100% satisfied. Health and Safety was exceptional with Zero RIDDOR incidents and 112K Accident Free Man Hours. The project won Kier coveted SHE ‘Silver Helmet’ award. It scored CCS 45/50, with outstanding marks in all five CCS categories. Wexham Park Hospital also won a Kier Quality Award, and achieved the design stage BREEAM Rating of ‘Excellent’.
They achieved the design stage BREEAM Rating of ‘Excellent’ and are on track to achieve construction stage BREEAM Excellent:
